About the artist
Hi!
My name is Hanna Wikborg and im the artist, creative director and founder of Bayfort Prints!
I am located in Sweden and first opened up a shop for my models 2024. I have continued to sell my original designs to many parts of the EU, UK and USA with great results. This is now my full time job and Bayfort Prints is continuing to grow and evolve.
Art is something I have been doing almost every day since I was a small kid and have always been especially interested in anatomy and color. I studied in Art School for three years and then Game development for three more years, where I learned 3D-modeling. I continued to advance after school and now I have a whole life of experience with drawing and over 10 years of experience with 3d modeling.
The experience with horses comes from both my mom and my grandmother. My grandmother was a Riding Instructor for most of her life and my mom has been riding since she was big enough to sit on a horse just like me. I have had 2 own horses, Ruby a New forest and Ministar a Swedish Warmblood. In the countryside just outside of Stockholm where I live is said to be one of the most “Horse dense“ municipalities in Sweden. Even though I don’t own any horses right now I am lucky to always have horses close by.
As a child I also collected model horses from Schleich, Papo and some other brands that were available in Sweden at that time. I still have some of those models with me today. It wasn't until my late twenties that I found my way back to model horses. It was when I found model horse groups on Facebook and the Swedish Model Horse Association that I realized that there was a whole community with collectors and many people like me that collected models, not just as toys, but as cherished sculptures.
The work I do combines my biggest interests, experience and knowledge together and I put a lot of time and hard work in to the models i create. It makes me so happy to see the amazing response from you and the whole community. To be able to bring the same joy for models that I feel to more people through my art is really a dream come true!
About the creation process
From design to the final product, everything is 100% made by us.
Everything starts with and idea and many sketches with inspiration from real life experience and photos. A final sketch is made from the best ideas and some reference images to ensure a good and realistic posture.
Then a base mesh is made and double checked and measured to relevant references of real horses to ensure good anatomy. The models weight distribution is also carefully calculated to ensure good balance when printed.
When the base mesh is done the model gets precisely sculpted to bring every little detail to life. The detail level includes everything from muscles even the tiniest details like blood vessels, hair strands and underside of the hooves. Every model also gets a small stamp of our logo often located on a strategic more hidden flat space on the model like the underside of the belly.
The process to go from digital to physical starts with preparing the model for the printer in a slicing program. The model is scaled to the right size, placed strategically on the buildplate of the machine and then supported with a structure to ensure stability and quality to the physical print.
When the model comes out of the printer its washed in IPA to get any liquid resin residue off. The model is then carefully taken out of its support structure with the help of very sharp and precise pliers. The model is then double checked for resin residue, to ensure safety.
When the model is cleaned we do the final cure with the required settings according to the resin we used for that model. The model is then checked very carefully again and tested to see that its totally dry and odor free.
The last step before we call our models finished is some prep work. We take care of the roughest part of prepping the model for you, even though its not industry standard. Small bumps is carefully scraped, cut and sanded with our specialized tools, depending on the needs and the specific model. This minimizes the time you need to prep your horse when you get it. That leaves more time for you to do the fun part, to paint it!
The model is quality checked one last time before we put it up in our shop. If a model don’t pass this last check and the flaw is fixable with a little extra prep, it may be sold as a second grade quality with a heavy discount. With that said, we don’t sell models who didn’t pass the earlier checks in the process. We always value safety first!
Then the model is put up in our store and ready to be carefully and securely packed and sent your way!

FAQs
How do i buy?
1
What is Bayfort Prints offering?
2
We offer original and unique models with great quality, designed and produced by our artist with 10+ years of experience and a university education in 3d modeling.
What model sizes do you offer?
3
We are starting out with specializing in 1:20 scale which is called “Venti scale“ or “Littlebits” or “Bijoux Scale" in model horses. We are looking into offering other popular scales like 1:32 and 1:12 in the near future.
How big is 1:20 scale and how does the scaling system work?
4
A 1:20 scale standing model horse translates to being around 10 cm from the ground to the ear tips and about 14 cm from head to tail.
1:20 scale means the model is 20 times smaller than a real living horse. That means 1:32 is even smaller and 1:12 bigger.
How much do your models cost?
5
We specialize in high quality collectible sculptures that are 100% made by a real human artist, so our prices will of course reflect that. The price can also vary depending on the size, scale and the level of detail for the specific model. Our pricing is still very fair and competitive for being in this industry. We want to offer affordable and reasonable prices to our customers so that more people afford high quality art pieces and collectible models.
What happens if i accidetally put in the wrong order?
6
We understand that special circumstances and mistakes can happen. If there is something you missed or you changed your mind, we let you cancel your order within one hour after you made your purchase. You can always message us on Etsy if you have questions regarding you order. We do our best to answer as fast as we can.
How does your shipping work?
7
Our store is located in Sweden and is part of northern Europe. For international order we ship with the same laws and regulations as the rest of Europe. We always use tracked shipping when possible so that you can follow your order and feel safe about you purchase.
Does your products have tariff tax?
8
The tariff code we use is free of duty and remains that way even after the recent changes. That means no tax is needed for shipping our products to the US. The tariff code that we use includes: scale models, plastic animals and collectible model horses. So you don’t have to worry about paying anything extra when buying a model from us.
We understand your worry though as we have seen people and other businesses in the industry doing the HS/Tariff codes wrong. Either using a code for “plastic statuettes and ornaments” that has tariff tax that the customer has to pay, or using a code for “original artworks of statuary” that is simply the wrong code for the purpose as it does not include over dozen copies of an artwork and because of that it could cause trouble at the border for wrong usage of the tariff code.
